With a second grader in the house who is increasingly reliant on the computer for homework and projects, I'm finding myself becoming much more vigilant about what he's doing when online, and researching ways to be better about monitoring screen and game time online.
As parents, we're huge proponents, obviously, of Internet safety and the many tools and services to help us out in that arena.

My Facebook activity has dropped off lately because I realized how much time I was spending on it--but also in part because of the confusing Facebook privacy changes that they seem to be making continually, sometimes unbeknownst to their users.
With today's anticipated News Feed announcement (being able to filter your feed to Facebook Graph search update allowing profiles to be searchable in the near future, seems there's always good reason to just double check that your privacy settings are up-to-date.

Any time I talk to a parent with tweens, the conversation eventually turns to the kinds of technology they are using, which then eventually turns into a Q&A session of me asking about cell phone usage, social media usage, cyber bullying (gasp!) and anything else that I fear for when my kids hit that age.

Having worked with a security company for years on the PR side, I'm super vigilant about what information I put out there, and more importantly, what networks I use to access information. (Those cybercriminals are more sophisticated than you can ever imagine.)
