American Express syncs with Twitter - perfect partnership for saving money over the holidays

I'm feeling the American Express love today, in part because of their commitment to Small Business Saturday--and their commitment to giving me a free $25 today when I shop. But it turns out they've also launched a program that can get you some big savings on holiday shopping, at least if you're a Twitter user.

 

Right now, if you synch your American Express card with your Twitter account you will get some serious deals. You'll probably also want to follow @AmericanExpress so that you can see the deals in the first place.

Basically, they'll tweet a hashtag--say, #AmexHenryBendelOffer. If you tweet the hashtag yourself you get some sort of deal, confirmed when they tweet back to you from @amexsync. In this case, I got $50 credited to my account for spending $200 on gifts at Bendel's--something I planned to do there anyway. Nice, huh?




I'm also seeing deals for Warby Parker, The Container Store (ooh!), and Bauble Bar, plus some local businesses and restaurants, with plenty of others coming. And having checked out the fine print, I don't feel particularly concerned about giving them access, or privacy issues. At worst, they'll know that I'm using Twitter lately to profess my newfound addiction to Homeland.

This may be one of the best uses of Twitter that I've seen by a brand, because it's not tweeting for a chance to win something, but to actually get significant cash back. More, please! -Liz
