Twig makes charger cables ultra-portable (and bendy)

Twig charger / stand for the iPhoneThe place where I charge my iPhone is on the desk in our kitchen, where mail, bills, kids' artwork and trinkets always seem to get placed. And every day or so when I need to juice my phone, I always find myself maneuvering the cable around the papers and pens its tangled between and reminding myself to find a new charging area. (I suppose organizing the mail pile would be a good approach too.) 

But with Twig, a nifty new charging "cable" I recently discovered on Kickstarter, I may not have to do either.

 

Measuring a mere 4 inches, Twig is a docking cable made of a bendy flexible material (think Gumby) that lets you do everything from charge your phone to prop it up for Facetime or video playback. You can even wrap your headphone cord around it for easy storage. 

It has already raised about $122,000 on Kickstarter, more than doubling its initial goal of $50,000, which is a pretty good indication that Twig is going to be super popular. And we can see why; it's one of those "why didn't I think of that gizmos" that's compact, multifunctional and cool looking. Plus it comes in a lot of cool colors.

Twig is available for pre-order via Kickstarter. Prices start at $18 for a black Twig; $20 for your choice of colors. Twigs will begin shipping in September 2012.
