Kids' music download of the week: Gotta Be You (and a cool video too)

Secret Agent 23 SkidooBack when kid-hop artist Secret Agent 23 Skidoo burst out on the scene with his debut Easy, Gotta Be Me was one of the standout songs for its kid-affirming lyrics and celebration of being different from the status quo.

Flash forward a few years and 23 and his daughter (a terrific duo) are at it again on the mark with a most excellent new release. 

 

Keep an eye out for our review of the CD Make Believers on Cool Mom Picks tomorrow. But in the meanwhile, take a listen to Gotta Be You. This single talks to those kids who feel awkward, different, or weird---aka, all of them. It's a great song for our young kids who are learning how to make friends without losing their sense of self or giving up what makes them unique.

But, don't worry: The music is way too cool for it to feel too touchy-feely or like some well-meaning lecture. So my kids will actually listen. -Christina
