3 tips for getting started with your iPad 2

Whether you're reading this from your precious iPad 2 or you're still waiting for it to arrive, I can't stress how important it is to keep your new gadget protected, especially if you've got kids around. I thought I'd put together three simple tips to help your keep your iPad 2 as safe and stylish as possible, so you and your family can enjoy it forever.

Or at least until they release the iPad 3.

 

1. Choose a case

I remember opening the box to my first generation iPad and wondering how in the world anyone could use it without a case. We've recently posted about several iPad 2 cases, like the beautiful GroveMade bamboo case (right), that range from functional to funky. I love perusing online and then heading to my favorite gadget store to check them out in person.

2. Protect the screen

A screen protector is a great investment if you've got little hands touching your iPad. I still can't believe how quickly those little fingerprints can cover the screen. We really like the HD Anti-Glare film iPad screen protector (left) which doesn't seem to affect the touch screen responsiveness like some of the others we've seen.

3. Get a warranty

After plunking down a hearty load of cash for my iPad, you can bet I bought a warranty. Too bad I didn't know about SquareTrade, a company that offers discount warranties that will cover your iPad 2 better than AppleCare. And with four kids in the house, you just never know what could happen, even if I had my iPad in a sealed bubble. -Kristen
