I have always been a gadget girl. When I got my Motorola Razr more than a decade ago, the "it" phone of the early 2000s mind you, I thought I was pretty hot stuff. But as with everything else, technology advances, and the once cutting-edge Razr is now the cell phone for my daughter's favorite dolly. (Every doll needs a cell phone, right?)

With so many people getting new phones for the holidays, I thought it would be a good idea to figure out what to do with our old ones.

Luckily, I came across ReCellular, an online site for buying and selling (and donating) used cell phones.

 

ReCellular makes the process easy by providing you with step-by-step instructions for figuring out how much your mobile phone is worth, and then if you're interested in the price, sending it back to the company for payment. If your phone is only worth a few bucks, you can choose to still recycle it through ReCellular or donate your used cell phone at no cost to you.

Donation may be your best option either way, since the various efforts affiliated with ReCellular's partner, The Wireless Recycling Network, support everyone from our troops overseas to children with major illnesses.

Considering old cell phones add up to up to a reported 65,000 tons of toxic waste a year, it all certainly beats tossing your old technology. Give it a look for all those mobile phones you have stashed away in your closet--or in a dolly's crib. - Jeana

Very cool, mines an iPhone though so I use it asan iPod! but good to know!
