Keep hands toasty while texting

Last winter in Philadelphia we had more snow than this area has seen in decades. At one point I found myself standing outside the airport, miserably cold, waiting for my husband to pick me up. He called, trying to find me, and I pulled out my iPhone but couldn't answer his call with my bulky gloves on. By the time I yanked my glove off, the call had gone to voice mail, and I was left shivering on the sidewalk.

As not only smart phones but touch screen technology have evolved over the last few years, we've all faced this same moment -- needing to check our email while waiting for a bus, or wanting to log on to a social network while watching watch your kid's game on a frigid day.

 

Blessedly, the folks at Isotoner have spotted this need and have created the solution. The new Smartouch Gloves keep your hands nice and toasty and make using touch screens a snap.They aren't high fashion by any means, but I find that they actually work better on my phone's touch screen than my bare cold hands, especially since warmth is part of how touch technology often often works and chilly fingers can slow you down.

I don't really get how the Smartouch Gloves function - something about conductive thread - but they do work. My only issue with them was with texting, and only because I needed to slow down to accommodate the bulk of the gloves themselves.

Let's hope this is version 1.0 of what could be potentially adorable, necessary accessory. -Cecily
